Dr. Ronald Derr
grew up on a family farm in Northwest Ohio and received his undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He pursued his medical training at the Ohio University - College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. He completed his internship and orthopaedic surgical residency at Doctors Hospital in Massillon, Ohio. From there he completed Fellowship Training in Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. During his Fellowship Training, he assisted with the care of high school, college, and professional sports teams including Auburn University, Samford University, Birmingham Bulls Hockey, and Birmingham Barons Baseball. He entered practice in Canton, Ohio, where he was team physician for Walsh University. Dr. Derr then completed fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He joined The Bone & Joint Clinic in 1996. He has a private pilot's license and enjoys many different sports. He and his wife and four children live in Franklin.
